Spandarama,
the space
After years of dreaming and months of planning, the efforts
and Grace of many gifted friends have manifest in the beauty
of our brand new Anusara Yoga Studio, Spandarama.
Our intention is for the studio to be a sacred place for the
joyful play of asana, inspired exploration of the mind and heart,
and for the loving support of community.
The name Spandarama is a playful combination of two Sanskrit
words: spanda, meaning "Divine pulsation" and rama,
meaning "creation, or joyous".
It is with our name and our beautifully crafted studio that
we offer an invitation to each of you to experience the radically
affirming practice of Anusara Yoga; to step into the currents
of Grace, and to dwell in the ever expanding joy of your own
heart.
Anusara Yoga, the practice
Founded by John Friend, Anusara Yoga is a heart oriented method of hatha
yoga, based in the biomechanics of the Universal Principles of Alignment and
the tantric philosophy of intrinsic goodness.
The highest intention of practicing Anusara Yoga is to align with the
Divine. As we deepen our alignment in body, mind and heart with the Supreme,
we step deeper into the flow of Grace. It is through the revelatory power of
Grace that we awaken to the truth that this Divine flow is our essential
nature. This higher knowledge naturally fuels our deepest desire to lovingly
serve the creative flow of life through each breath and posture in our yoga
practice.
On our yoga mat we artistically offer our individual light and our unique
music with the heartfelt prayer of adding more beauty, love, and goodness to
the world.
